WWE Smackdown VS. Raw 2009

I have been a fan of the SMACKDOWN series since it first hit the shelves in February 2000. The games have become progressively better over the last nine years. The new installment is no different and in my eyes does not disappoint.
SVR2009 is the latest induction in the long running game series. Aside from offering stunning graphics and unparalleled game play it Introduces an innovative technology for customizing your own “finisher” or signature move. Now anyone who has ever been a fan of wrestling knows that a wrestler is synonymous for their finishing move and being able to create your own custom “finisher” lets you immerse yourself deeper into the game than ever before.

The game features 5 different storylines were you can play as some of the biggest name sin wrestling today including: CM Punk, Triple H, and Chris Jericho. As a bonus this year you can play with a partner in one of the storylines something that hasn’t been seen in previous versions of the game. Aside from the storylines there are several other types of matches including exhibition and career mode.

In this game career mode is used to gain attributes for your created superstars (CAS). Career mode consists of seven sets of up to five matches. These matches are judged based on a star system the more stars you receive for a match the fewer matches you ultimately need to fight.

As good as the game is it does have flaws. Yukes Media has removed the “WWE LEGENDS” from the game which would include retired superstars like: Hulk Hogan, The Rock, and Steve Austin. They have also removed the ability to freely customize a CAS’ stats after complete one year in career mode. Making the game drag on and on for what can seem like an eternity Yukes is currently working on a patch to fix this problem and it should be available for PS3 and 360 by the end of February.

I recommend trying this game even if your not a fan of wrestling. The CAS mode cab give you hours of fun alone trying to make the perfect versions of you, your friends and your favorite characters from other games.
I would rate this game about 7.5/10 because it has some good new features but at the cost of the great ones it already had.
