easons FFT is better than FFTA:

-Zodiac symbols add some difference into the now repetitive gameplay, they took them out, and that sucks.

-Only one race, so anyone you had could be anything you want, there's no more "only moogle's can be gunners" shit, since moogles don't exist. This makes the characters a lot more customizable than in FFTA.

-There's a really deep an involving plot, that you don't have to wander all over the place and do everything to understand, since you don't have "missions" to win the game, you kinda have an idea of what's going on.

-The ability to have monsters on your team My personal favorite is a red chocobo, which can use "choco meteor" and deal better damage than his attack, from a further range than "choco ball" (his other move).

-The ability to rename the monsters that you have. (my red chocobo is named "Beaker" (heh) when it was probably named something like "Kurin" or some other such shit)

-The ability to choose when you want a new character to join your team. No waiting to finish missions and praying that you get a certain race to join, and it turns out badly, just walk to a town, go into the recruitment office, and hire yourself a level 1 squire (male or female), you can mess around with them to get the Zodiac symbot you want, and you can even change their name. Nothing is more customized than having a full party of people named after your real life friends, with their authentic zodiac signs (maybe I'm just obsessed)

-In FFT, you got "job points" for preforming an action. (hitting an enemy, healing an ally, or vice versa) These points were then spent on abilities that you master from the job you're on. In FFTA, you have to equip items to learn your abilities, and you don't get AP based on what you do in the battle. Therefore, you could own everything and get a measely 40 AP, but in FFT you could rock, and get the job points to prove it.

-Equiping crappy items in FFTA to leanr the abilities off of them makes your party weaker than it needs to be.

-The judge system is totally gay. There's nothing I hate more than going into a battle against a bunch of monsters and finding out "DMG2: Animal" is illegal. That makes me so pissed off.

-Combos in FFTA make the game way too easy, so does the ability to summon a totema that can kill all normal enemies in one shot.

-In FFT, when "special" people joined you, and had cool jobs, you had the ability to change them off of the job after they'd mastered it. Not so much in FFTA, where Babus, and Ezel joined my team, and had every move they could learn mastered, and can't be switched off of that job.

-In FFT, there was actual cursing. "Algus you bastard! You killed Teta! My sister!"

-In FFTA there isn't even words as bad as "darn"

-The storyline is a lot darker in FFT, and I prefer the "The world will end if we fail" motif to the "lets get out of this game so we can live our happy-go-lucky lives guys =D" one.

-Jobs in FFT already had their "Status Up" abilities when you switched to that job (example, ninja could already use two swords) you just had to spend AP to grant you the ability to give that "Status Up" ability to another job.

-There were no real stats in FFT, there was "phys atk pwr" "mag atk pwr" "mag evd" and "phy evade" along with move, jump, and weapon and shield evades. Armor put your HP and MP up not your defense (since there was none) this means that the level 1 people you buy at the recruitment office weren't half bad in battle if you gave them the best stuff they could use. In FFTA, you gain Hp and Mp based on what jobs you've gotten levels on, so if you spend a while on black mage, you suddenly have a lot of Mp. This totally sucks IMO.

-Reaction abilities in FFT didn't go off all the time, this made for some interesting fights.

-In FFTA, the hit percentage rate of everything is way down. Even magic will only hit with a (roughly) 50% chance from the front. In FFT, the opponent's magic evade determined how well he dodged magic, and his weapon evade determined how well he would dodge physical attack. In FFT, you could attack a black mage from the front with a 100% chance if he wasn't wearing a mantle. In FFTA, you never have a 100% chance to hit, not even if you're hitting an inanimate statue.

-The graphics in FFT were way better (well obviously)

-The ability to tilt and rotate the camera in FFT proved quite handy, unfortunately, it's not in FFTA, and I've had problems trying to tell which direction certain enemies are facing when they're covered by trees.

-In FFT, if someone dies, a countdown goes off, and when that hits zero, they either drop stuff they were wearing, or a crystal. From the crystal, you could learn a few abilities that they had mastered. If this dead character belonged to you, he will be lost forever, along with any stuff he was wearing. In FFTA, the only time someone dies, is in a "Jagd" or lawless area, and they do not drop a crystal, or any of the stuff they had. This means you can't steal enemies abilities by keeping one of them alive until they all turn into crystals. Boo.

-In FFT, if you use a healing item on someone who's full hp, you get no points or JP, in FFTA, you steal get exp. blah blah, this makes it easy to blah get levels. But in doing this, you still only get the 40 AP from that fight, so you'll max your guy's level out, but he'd still not be able to do decent damage because of his crappy weapon, and he wouldn't have any decent abilities because he didn't get a lot of ap from the fight.

-I really hate having to fight every enemy I see in FFTA just to get all the random weapons that you need to have to learn certain skills (I still don't have the Genji Armor)

There's only one good thing I can say about FFTA, and that's the fact that you can redo a move if you find out that you haven't moved in the right place or whatever.

Now I say that FFTA doesn't stand up to FFT in anyway. The game shouldn't have even shared the same name, but oh well. Although the game is a crappy Final Fantasy Game, it's still a decent rpg, and I still enjoy playing it. Just thought I mention to you all the reasons I like FFT better.

and oh yeah, the music in FFT is way better than it is in FFTA. It rocks, the guy who did the music for FFT shall be praised by me for eternity.
