y biggest concern is that a few members here and there have mentioned this site "dieing." Truth is, we may not have a lot of members, but the few we have know their shtick when it comes to making games. It's been my experience that these people are the backbone of any good community. We've got a long way to go, but I'm convinced that direction is up. Some staff here are working hard to make sure we have content to attract new users. Easy to understand, illustrated tutorials aren't very common on the Net these days. The idea is to make blade2k Grand Central Market for them.

Also, a few have had concerns about how I just washed ashore here and had a staff robe thrown around me. Is it fair? Some complain they've been here longer than I have. I understand your feelings. Try to understand, though, that being staff isn't (and/or shouldn't) be a perk or an award. I applied here. I had a talk with The Man, made a proposition, and gave several examples of my work that had been published on other sites. I basically submitted a resume.

Why? Well that's none of your business ... sorry, having a SLiTHS flashback. It is your business. I'm here because I enjoy two things relevant to where I am: writing and making video games. I work 40 hours a week as a newspaper reporter. I come home and work more hours a week on my video game hobby. This isn't me transcending to the elite of some social class. I don't even hardly post in the forums, our main social area. Some staff at other sites make contributions probably once a month, if that. The reason is, they make staff and find out it’s not the best thing since curly fries.

My job is to bring you what you like to see, and to appeal to viewers who otherwise might not give blade2k more than a few minutes of their life before moving on to another, so-called "better" site. I’ll be here adding to our member-grabbing ammunition every week – not because it’s cool beans to be staff, but because it’s just something I enjoy. You want to be staff at any site like this one? Do what you like to do for others instead of yourself. Hard work always prevails. I'll be there to help you whenever you need.

Your friend,
