Hello, This is how to make a basic switch:

First here is an example. Let's say you want to make a king say "Go to your room."
And you do not want him to do that over and over. Right click the King and
go to edit event. Now you are in the commands screen. After the message put in
change switch. Create a new switch call it king.
Now press ok, At the top click on new page.
When you are there make sure that the switch you created is on. Go to the
right and click on the circle that say's switch. Now make the king say something else,
Like "Hurry!"
Now test your game and see the magic of switches.
Work with switches and you will understand them.

Part II:What is the purpose of a switch?
All rpg games have switches, I have never seen any without atleast 20 switches.
Switches can be used for many things. If you still don't understand switches
just mess with them to find their true purpose. Thats how I Learned them.
Here is a what a change switch command look's like.
<switch 001 on set>
You can reconize them very easy this way.

Part III:How many switches can I use?
You can use up to 5000 Switches! That is more than you need.
In my games I usualy get up to 100 switches or so. But 5000 Is alot!
Switches are used for opening a treasure chest or making an event
dissapear.

Part IV:What else can I do with a switch?
You can also turn off a switch. I don't use this much but it can come in handy.
Let's Say instead of changing a switch and wasting another one
you could simply turn it off and it will be gone.
