Story: (17/20)
The story is built around the idea that the Internet is another world with places and people. In my opinion this is a good and highly original idea. Another project called "In My Heart She Remains" tells the side story of what happened to Rodpop before he met Reddap. In RPG2KBRPG! you get to see where In My Heart She Remains left off. The story is divided into chapters and appears to be a "light comedy". Reddap and Rodpop sustain a light-hearted and '"feel good" atmosphere throughout the entire game. RPG2KBRPG does not appear to be a "in your face, laugh out loud comedy" but more, as I mentioned, light comedy, which is perhaps a good thing as most people who try to be funny in games end up producing nothing but shallow parodies, something that this project is without. Most of the comedy is original. The dialogue seems to vary quite a lot. Sometimes there are painfully unoriginal lines but the vast majority of the dialogue is very good. At the end of the demo the story really seems to be kicking off. It is very welcoming to see a game that doesn't throw the entire plot in your face during the first five minutes. RPG2KBRPG! builds the story up slowing, a feat which is rare in the RPGMaker community.

Characters: (15/20)
I suspect but cannot be certain that a different person designs each playable character, as each person who has joined the project has made their own character. I suspect this is true however, because all the characters have different personalities and the diversity of their characteristics is near perfection. What I loved the most was the "n00bs", they were hilarious and something we can all relate to in some way. On the downside, I noticed a severe unoriginality about the villains. As far as I can remember, just about all of them adopted the "I'm evil for the sake of it and you fools can't hurt me" attitude and then did the highly clichéd thing of running away after being beaten in battle leaving just enough time to deliver lines such as "We'll leave it there for today". However, we should not forget the positive, which highly outweighs the negative in this case.

Gameplay: (9/20)
This project uses the default battle system and characters gain skills by levelling up as normal. I noticed that on occasions the power of the enemies was far too difficult, notably in the Cave of Mystery, which had bats that could confuse you. And seeing as you only had two characters at this point and that bats came in swarms, I had a very hard time getting past this part, and even then it was on shear luck. The boss battles on the other hand were almost perfect. Bosses were made more interesting by having the boss summon minions, along with other creative aspects to increase the enjoyment and creativity of the battles. Also, there is a part in the game where Reddap games an ability by finding his sister. Whether this is a one off or is a feature that will appear again in later chapters is unknown to me. There were a couple of mini games too. There was a "Wack-a-noob" game and a Mario Board where you had to travel across in a side scroller view. Perhaps the biggest disappointment was the map design, which was quite uncreative. My enjoyment of the game overall was definitely reduced by the poor surroundings.

Graphics: (3/20)
The overall presentation of this game is it's weakest area. A lot of RT and RT add-on was used. Sometimes higher quality resources were used but this just made things worse because this meant that you had a lot of chipsets, facesets and charactersets in different styles along side one another. The faceset used for Rodpop was quite good, but it looked horribly out of place next to an edited Alex faceset. To make matters worse, the map design was quite poor also. Areas just didn't look natural. The world map for example had too many straight edges and 'blocks' of tiles. The graphics was saved slightly by the highly appropriate Title and Game Over screen and some custom graphics. Even though a game should never be judged on graphics alone, I hate to admit it, but I didn't enjoy this game as much as I would have done if it had good graphics and presentation.

Audio: (20/20)
In contrast to graphics, I felt this was the strongest area. The choice of music suggested the work of a genius. The first example that comes to mind is the music used for the pyramid, which was nothing short of a flawless choice. The battle music seemed to fit the genre perfectly. It also had a light-hearted and feel good sound to it. The boss music was exciting and engaging and the music chosen for the towns and every other area I encountered captured exactly the right atmosphere.

Conclusion: (64/100)
This game has massive potential and boasts aspects of creativity, wit and imagination rarely seen in other RPGMaker projects. I for one will download the next demo and play it as soon as it is released. The world of RPG2KBRPG! is very intriguing, as are the characters. Gameplay could use a little work but overall, not bad. I hope Reddap continues to choose music of such quality as he has so far. My major grievance however is the graphics, which I feel gives an unjustly low score to an otherwise superb game.
