![]() Guild Wars Developed By: Areanet, NCSoftReview By: Agent_47 Written on: Friday, December, 09th, 2005 at 03:19:27 am Rating: 90% Site: here System: Computer Download: here Guild Wars is a test in MMORPGs. It is a MMORPG, but it has no monthly cost, unlike virtually all others of the same genre. All you have to do to play the game is purchase the game at a retailer. This is the main reason I purchased the game over WoW, CoH, EQII or EQ. Some may think that a MMORPG that doesn\'t charge monthly fees lacks quality, because it doesn\'t have the extra money to cover various costs (I.E servers, storage, support, ect. ect.) but through various means, Guild Wars has cut costs without giving up quality or content. Gameplay: 9/10 The gameplay consists of choosing a primary class, and a secondary class. The primary class will also be stronger than the secondary (the primary has an extra attribute class, and can be buffed up by runes). You choose 8 skills to take into battle, the further you get in the game, the more skills can be purchased or given as a quest reward. Music: 9/10 The music is fairly good, but if you get the DirectSong Battlepack, it makes the music awesome. Iniquity: 9/10 Pretty much the only Diablo based MMO in recent years. That in itself makes it unique, that and the skill system set it ahead of the pack in my mind. Graphics: 8/10 The graphics are very good by today’s standards in my opinion. With the higher graphic settings turned on, you get a “sheen.” I like this, but some people don’t, its all a matter of opinion. Story: 8/10 The story follows the typical MMO storyline (I.E, your homeland is invaded and you have to save the world), but is above average for the most part, and the missions are generally fun and challenging. The unique thing about it is that you progress to different areas when you complete missions. Alternatively, you can bypass missions through venturing through the land, though unless you are very strong, you should have somebody \"run you.\" PvP: 10/10 One of the best parts of the game is PvP. Most MMORPGs don\'t have PvP, and none in my opinion have PvP as good as Guild Wars. You pit teams against teams (either of 4 to 8 players, the farther you progress in the game, the more people are involved). Some PvP modes consist of random grouping, others have you choosing your team. The modes consist of either killing a \"hero\" NPC, King of the Hill or killing all members of the opposing team. Like all games, Guild Wars has its faults (crash bugs, no item crafting system, ect. ect.) but all in all, the pros outweigh the cons. Screenshots write a review
