anyway this week i review....my favorite..novelty complilation CD...;F
Short Music For Short People, good idea for a CD...wish there were more weirdo novelty punk compilation CDs like this

When i got this CD i had heard of 64 of the bands, i have CDs from 13 of the bands, and had heard 6 of the songs before....yes and including the now famous Blink 182 song...Anyway this is a CD, which is another weird idea of Fat Mikes (you know the guy from NOFX)released through Fat Wreck Chords....although not all songs are by bands from Fat...infact most arent.
Anyway the CD is "101 bands playing 30 second songs" although the last three songs are all put into one track...i assume because some CD players can't handle more than 99 songs

most of the songs on this CD were made specially for the CD...some you can just guess that they were made for the CD...i.e. the song by the Mad Caddies called "Mike Booted Our First Song, So We Recorded This One Instead" and the Dance Hall Crashers song:

"Got in a fight with Fat Mike when he called and told me
To write a thirty second song for his little CD
Tried to explain that I needed more to go on
But motivation, where is he comin' from? "

Most of the songs on this CD are surprisingly good for songs that go for about 30 seconds...(the CD ranges from songs that go for 8 seconds to songs that go for 38 seconds)

Some of the highlights on this CD are

Less Than Jake - Anchor (Less Than Jakes thank you song)
Chixdiggit - Quit Your Job (Catchy song. Good advice)
Bigwig - Freegan (Nice Propagandhi reference)
Ataris - The Radio Still Sucks (Ataris' opinion of songs on the radio)
Unwritten Law - Armageddon Singalong (Singalong!)
AFI - Hearts Frozen Soil Thawed Once More By the Spring of Rage, Despair, and Hopelessness (Surprisingly good AFI song)
Blink 182 - Family Reunion (You know the song...)
Mr T Experience - Told You Once (More fun with swear words)
Gwar - Fishfuck (Without doubt the stupidest song on the CD)
NoMeansNo - No Fgcnuik (18 year old song...with anagramed/censored title)
Descendants - I Like Food (Ballad of food)
Guttermouth - Don Camero Lost His Mind (What would any compilation be without an advertisment for a magic shop?)
Offspring - Hand Grenades (Ever wanted to know how to make a hand grenade?)
Mad Caddies - Mike Booted Our First Song, So We Recorded This One Instead (Hooray for Ska!)
88 Fingers Louie - All My Friends are in Popular Bands (All round good song)
NOFX - See Her Pee (What you could expect from NOFX, although they should have used "Monosylabic Girl)
Frenzal Rhomb - My Pants Keep Falling Down (Good Old Frenzal Rhomb)
Anti-Flag - Bring it to an End (30 seconds politics sampler)
The Real McKenzies - Old Mrs. Cuddy (Hooray for the Canadian Scotts)
Bouncing Souls - Like a Fish in Water (What happenes when bands teach bands other languages)
Caustic Soda - Welcome to Dumpsville, Population You/Misfits - NY Ranger/Wizo - The Count (Three good songs strung together on track 99)

Although some of the songs seem a bit too short...and feel more like just fragments of songs. And for 101 bands I could have expected bands like Propagandhi, MxPx, Alkaline Trio, Hot Water Music and Millencolin (Although they were asked to do a song for the CD but decided not to) to be on it...obviously not...besides that it's definitly worth the money....i paid $25 which works out to be less than 25c each song...definitly worth it...and remember this CD is only for short people...so all you tall people, chop off your legs

I give Short Music For Short People 3.5 stars
