![]() An Epic Quest demo Developed By: ultimateReview By: Ramza Written on: Wednesday, May, 12th, 2004 at 08:50:51 pm Rating: 30% Site: here System: RPG Maker 2003 Download: here Gameplay 3/10 Not much out of the ordinary here. Default stuff all the way. It hints at how the magic system will be, but I never got to that point in the game... maybe you never get any magic? The enemies could never do any damage to me, and there were several bugs, the largest of which was a guy in "New Port" that automatically levelled up my character. I find that I missed far too much in the game, making it long and annoying, eventually I gave up, hoping that there wasn't much more of it to go. Graphics 3/10 Default RTP everything. Well, almost everything. A few backdrops were non-rtp, but they were quite commonly used. The main character and his battle set were edited. And most of the facesets weren't rtp. A few graphical and map related glitches had me wondering if the game had actually been beta tested... Sometimes the hero's faceset would switch to one of the default ones. Somebody needs to play through his own game and look for these kinds of things. Sound 4/10 Most of it wasn't RTP. The title theme was taken straight out of FFX-2. Most of the other stuff was taken from various other rpgs. None of it was Final Fantasy (well except the shop theme) though, so I can't say much bad about it there. The sound effects were all rtp. And the battle music was boring and repetitive, although it matched the battles... Story 4/10 A long timeago, a guy wandered around the world looking for an ancient relic. When he found it, he brough peace to the world. They made him the king of a country and all that other stuff. Then some random theif guy (who actually turns out to be the hero) steals the relic from the king, and makes off with it. Then it cuts to 15 years (later it says, but I believe it was earlier) and the main character is now a mercenary. Nothing more is said about what he's doing or anything. There were so many spelling mistakes everywhere. The most common was a lack of capitalization on the word "I". Text ran off the screen in some spots too. This section could be much better, but it could alos be much worse. Unquitity 2/10 The magic system (which I never saw, but I assume it's in there) would be a unique twist on rm2k magic. Everything else is default. I don't think there's much else to say here. Conclusion If you want a game that has no story, no good music, rtp graphics, and terrible gameplay, get this. But since you likely answered "no" to the above statement, just pitying me will suffice, since I had the misfortune of reviewing this. Get used to screenshot 2 btw (click to enlarge) 3 + 3 + 4 + 4 + 2 = 16/50 = 32% = 3/10 Screenshots write a review
