![]() Crusade of the Indomitable Developed By: psyborgReview By: Ramza Written on: Saturday, April, 24th, 2004 at 02:00:57 pm Rating: 70% Site: here System: RPG Maker 2003 Download: here Gameplay 8/10 Let's face facts here, the battles were tough, your guys had little amounts of hit points, and the enemies did little amount of damage. The result was long battles that at any moment any of your characters could die. You guys took way too long to get a level, and when they did, their stats went up by barely notciable levels. That's all for the bad stuff.... The good stuff: 8 playable characters, that you could switch to at anytime (well except for battle), each with their own set of skills and stuff that are needed for certain things. A teachable skill system, I could try to explain it, but it's better just to show you (screenshot 2) Graphics 5/10 Most of it was default rtp, and rtp edits. My real quarrel lies with the fact that the facesets and charsets and the battle charsets don't match up all that well... I also noticed a few female sets going as males and vice versa... no biggie there. Map design was huge, yet greatly used and not empty.... I found myself getting lost in forests and caves. Sound 6/10 Sound effects were default rtp, and the music was taken from several main stream RPGs (Final Fantasy, Wild Arms, Phantasy Star to name a few) There were several different battle musics. Some would say that it adds variety to the game having different battle musics, but with that many, it just got kind of annoying. I can't feel the game unless I can like it's battle music, and this one had at least 8 different tunes. Story 7/10 Some kind of interdimensional war is beginning, and the hero Marcus is sent to investigate an invasion of a certain planet, when he gets there, he discovers that the invaders are after something on the planet, and that they've trapped him on the world. It's up to him and the seven other heroes that he rescued from the town to save the day. The storyline is quite original. A few spelling mistakes and grammatical errors here and there, but nothing too bad. I find the story would be better if it was explained a little better at the beginning. Unquitity 8/10 default battle system, and menu but it does have some awesome qualities as well. The party change system is far from spectacular, but the main glory goes to the "Skill Learning" system. (see screenshot 2) I have never seen anything like this in an rm2k(3) game before, and it's totally cool =D Conclusion The game has a huge download, because the rtp is included. It's graphics aren't the greatest, but the map design is rad. And there's a good selection on music. There are too many battle musics, and the charsets don't match the facesets/battlecharsets. The skill system is awesome as well. Download this if you want a system based rpg, rather than one that focuses on graphics. 8 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 = 34/50 = 68/100 = 7/10 good job =D Screenshots write a review
