![]() The Runeblade Destiny Developed By: aaronmogerReview By: Lyndon Written on: Saturday, January, 24th, 2004 at 04:31:42 pm Rating: 30% Site: here System: RPG Maker 2003 Download: here Gameplay The gameplay was pretty good I thought. This is the first game I have played with the rm2k3 battle system in it and I thought it worked well. The battles were just about the right hardness, although I did find myself running from the battles in the well because they took so long to beat. But the boss in that section was very good. Nothing original for me to talk about though. The game took me about an hour to complete, but it's just a demo. 3/5 Graphics The gfx were pretty basic. rtp mainly on every chipset and character. The monster sets was something I had never seen before along with the battle drops. The only original part I can talk about is the sword and the stars. the sword l looked ok, but the stars looked pretty bad. The maps weren't done very well either. The houses were really basic looking and flat. The town's generally lacked detail too. 1/5 Sound The sound was either rtp, which I don't like, or FF7 which I do like. Nothing original, but it worked in the right places. The game also lacked sound effects which gives the game some more life. 2/5 Story well... the story was pretty basic and unexplained. You begin the game in a town and you just go and ask the majot about the Runeblade and he tells you that you must find it! So your adventure begins and you go through some dungeons until you find a new character that has heard of the runeblade before and knows where to get it. that character is searching for a thief that makes one appearance in the game and is not heard of again. Seemed pretty pointless, but it might get explained in later releases. Some of the towns also seemed pointless and I was searching for something to do, but found nothing. Also, the dialogue led you to believe you had to do something for the quest to continue, like saying "get some rest in the inn". I didn't need to rest, but I thought that something might happen if I do, becuase after someone saying that you would expect an event to occur. As it happens, nothing happened. The game finishes as you enter a cave and that's the end of the demo. I think the general problem with the game is that it was all too rushed and linear. No time was spent on getting to know the characters or little sidequests that lead onto the main quest. 1/5 Unquitity Nothing was unique in the game at all i'm afraid to say. 0/5 Conclusion Well, the game wasn't really that bad. It was playable and even if you weren't concentrating on the story, the battles were quite good and enjoyable, but there wasn't anything to think "wow, what a great game!" It was mediocre and lacked depth. 3 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 0 = 7/25 = 0.28 = 3/10 Screenshots write a review
