![]() Res Judicata Developed By: HeavyBladeReview By: RPGVirtuoso Written on: Saturday, August, 05th, 2006 at 01:18:31 am Rating: 68% Site: here System: Not Listed Download: here BEFORE PLAYING... Go into the Game's folder directory and make a new folder. Call that folder "Saves". ANYWAY... So... I admit that my hands, too, have touched this project. This does not mean I'm giving it an advantage. Reviewing goes the same for me either way. Gameplay 5/10 Gameplay, gameplay, gameplay. Red Judicata is a game, I'll tell you that. The game mostly consists of dialogue (which apparently is a bad thing in an RPG). While the dialogue makes you chuckle (or giggle), the game does not offer too much in gameplay. Yes, it's an RPG. Yes, you kill stuff... Those, however, are all given... I guess. I mean, there is plenty of room for special stuff. You know, like minigames! I'd love to see a "Gladrius Cleaving Random Pub Patrons" minigame... where you cleave people. That's just me, of course. I'm sick. This all being said, the game passes on the count of its interaction with objects in maps. Graphics 7/10 It's a hi-res RMXP game with large sprites and custom chipsets. It's hard to ignore that. That being said, the default window system was used... and the Battlers were of completely different styles and/or didn't look like the characters at all. Overall, the graphics were good. Golgotha's chipset was really great... Not being an XP user, I have no idea how any chipsets were custom... But very well done on that part. Sounds and Tunes 9/10 This game has a lot going for it in this department. Not many games you can find with an awesome original MP3 soundtrack. That being said, there are still several RTP tracks. Those RTP songs fill in the gaps and work nonetheless. Not much else I an say... Except the music roxs and the SFX were average. I say fill those gaps of RTP music with non-original tracks, at least. Story 7/10 This game, first of all, is based off of an RP played by members of the Blade2k community. Dialogues from the game are exact quotes from the RP. You roam the Earth in the shoes of an over-confident ale-guzzling man with a sword who calls himself Gladrius The Great. He thinks he is the most skilled swordsman in the world and will behead anybody who looks at him the wrong way. Don't get it twisted, though. He is not evil. After driving his blade through the ribs of many innocent bar patrons, he find himself partnered with a very horrible musician with no backbone whatsoever named Francis. From there, he stumbles along the path of a hero, without even knowing it. Yes. It is comical. I found this game to be very amusing. Being the voice of Gladrius, I still find him amusing. It takes a very special kind of person to laugh at his/her own jokes. The story is still young. You cannot say much about the game's larger plot... nothing you should know yet, anyway. Features 6/10 Also, there is a freaking TRUCKLOAD of skills you can obtain throughout the game. This demo barely even touches the surface of the vast arsenal of skills. Still, it is lacking in terms of features. I mean, this is RMXP. You can go wild with a metric tonne of scripts! Explore the wonderful world of massive script systems with cool, new, hot(though laggy) effects! The inability to walk diagonal or dash in an RMXP game makes it feel weird, believe it or not. Also, I'd love to see a different battle system... but I don't think that'll happen. Calculation ((5+7+9+7+6)x 2 = 68) Overall rating: 68 - Play it. Yes, it's self-promotion! Play the game... err... demo. This game will only get better as it move further along, hopefully. Screenshots write a review
