![]() Final Fantasy: The Garland Enigma Developed By: RodpopReview By: REDDAP Written on: Thursday, March, 02nd, 2006 at 01:03:36 am Rating: 9% Site: here System: RPG Maker 2003 Download: here The Garland Enigma is Rodpop\'s attempt at a \"different\" fangame. By \"different\" I mean, well...It\'s Garland for christ\'s sake! Graphics: 7/10 Well, the game has a definite NES style. All the graphics look just like the original final fantasy, in all it\'s 8-bit glory. Now, in a normal game, this would get about a 2, but it\'s supposed to be NES style. The style just fits with the setting and overall plot better, as well as the parody-ity of it the game. The chipsets were well used for their quality level. Music/Sound: 9/10 Every single song was from Final Fantasy zomg!!!!!oneonononononononononononononononone...ok, that may be so, but it is, once again, a Final Fantasy Parody/Fangame. <_< The music however, doesn\'t make the ears bleed, and actually sounds pretty good, so it\'s definitely deserving of a good mark here. Sounds were mainly RTP, which I don\'t mind sound-wise, and some NES blips too...which were fine in the usage. Plot: 10/10 This is the biggy. There\'s definitely something very mysterious going on... As well, the dialouge is abrupt and hilarious. The combination of the old dude and the stone golem was laughable...you\'ll have to play to find out. Gameplay: 9/10 No real problems here. Basic default RPG Maker gameplay. The dungeon was designed well, although it didn\'t have any crazy puzzles or anything. However, there\'s a mini-cms and class system that\'s pretty cool. Oh, and a custom Inn too. And the old man shooter mini-game was fun too. Originality/Features: 7/10 As was said in the last review for this game, there were no features. Wait...there was the mini-cms. And the class thing. And the inn. And the mini-game. So, I guess there were quite a few features. Now, here\'s a bit of a problem. ZOMG FINAL FANTASY FANGAME! I\'m sure that just hearing those 3 words (yes, I don\'t count ZOMG as a word) will turn off a lot of veterans, saying that \"Oh, a final fantasy fangame has to be by a total n00b\". However, this game is not a Final Fantasy 6,7,8, or 11 fangame, and it is definitely not n00bish. So although it still loses some points for being done before, it doesn\'t lose as much due to the unexpectance factor. Overall: 9/10 A generally good game, and I\'m sure that when the next game comes out, I\'ll be one of the first to download it and point out the numerous inevitable glitches to Rodpop. Well, not numerous, but maybe one or two.... Screenshots write a review
