some love for the psp
posted on: Wednesday, February, 06th, 2008 at 06:58:52 pm at Gaming
with the xbox one below I figured a psp one wouldn't be too far off either.

Sony released firmware update version 3.90 on january 27, 2008. The new firmware update includes the added functionality of the skype messaging service to the XMB™. Right from the console, you can register and create a skype account, and make skype to skype calls without ever having to touch your computer. if you want to set it up to do skype to landline or cellphone calls, that's something you have to set on the skype website, as it requires you to pay money.
This is a nice innovation, allowing users to use their psp as a cellphone, wherever wireless access is available.

The only real downsides to the new feature are as follows:
you need a psp-200x model (psp slim)
you require a remote control especially made for the psp slim (which doesn't ship with the psp slim like the old one shipped with the psp phat
you require a skype psp compatible headset.
you cannot use skype and do other things on your psp (look at videos/pictures or listen to music) at the same time.

in total, buying the remote and headset will run you about $50 USD plus tax. and if you want to use the service like a cellphone, you'll also need to pay some fees to skype as well (never really looked into the pricing for it).

On a side note, this update is available in custom firmware, and is fully functional as well, so some of us can update to get the new features, without losing out on the old ones. :)

Gaming News Posts Exist! (XBOX 360 Flavour)
posted on: Saturday, February, 02nd, 2008 at 08:10:43 pm at Gaming
Well, it's happening. Microsoft's choice to not have the X360 use HD-DVDs for gaming is beginning to force developers to utilize the HDD more for gaming. You might be thinking 'but blue, the 360 already uses the HDD a great deal already.' This is true, as it is clearly being used for game saves, DLC, and the such. But now games are starting to use the HDD for data cashing purposes for playing online (Burnout: Paradise clearly says so on the box that it needs a HDD for online game play) and for installing parts of the game itself on the HDD a la PS3 (although no games that I know of do this yet, I believe GTA4 will be the first for the 360). I personally recommend finding (from what i hear, it actually requires looking) a X360 Elite that packs the 120 GB HDD, buying the 120 HDD for your X360 Premium/Core/Arcade, or going the extra mile and swapping the X360 HDD with a third party HDD (which isn't that hard to do, i attest to this from experience (Google it)). Be headed though, buying a standard external HDD and plugging it up wont work, as the X360 only uses it's internal HDD (and memory unit) for game saves.

The Apocolypse Draws near...

I'm not sure if I could deliver better news to the RPG community.

According to PCGamer's latest issue, Bethesda's booth at E3 was decorated with a large, CG rendering of Fallout 3.

E3 - The Electronic Enterainment Expo - is considered to be the "who's who" of the gaming industry.
And it was Bethesda, if you recall, that bought Fallout rights from Interplay.

UPDATE!
A bit more information gleamed from the article. Development of Fallout 3 was begun by Bethesda shortly after the release of Oblivion, and, Fallout 3 is likely to make use of Oblivion's engine. All good news for us - Oblivion's engine, while it had it's shortcomings, was a graphical masterpiece, with an unprescedented level of NPC interaction.

While no further information was stated on the matter, the message is clear.
Fallout 3... is on it's way.

I can't tell you how good it feels to write that sentence. I'll have to let your own joy suffice.

maple story stuff...
posted on: Tuesday, May, 10th, 2005 at 08:17:46 pm at Gaming
EDIT:
The game has just been opened to new users, and there is a new world (Bera) for everyone to play in. So all you guys who missed it the first time get your butts in gear this time.

I have just received word, that Maple Story is gonna release it's public client for download tommorrow at 1:00pm (GMT). This means Ossyria is coming out guys. But there are problems here...

Ossyria is not going to be released on the beta client (that's the one we all use). Users who switch their accounts to the official release will lose all of their characters and all of their items. As such, you get a choice to stay in beta or move on the the official, with no characters. Sucks eh? Well it's not all bad... For users who switch to the official release from the beta (probably for a limited time) experience is increased for monsters killed, and they drop items more often. i guess this is their way of allowing us to level up before everyone else gets into the game. Anyway, I was just wondering which of you are gonna make the switch to the official server?

I am gonna switch, if anyone is gonna stay I might consider giving them my old items or something before I quit the beta version.

Time for some bragging again...
Only this time, it's good!
I - that's me - was having a concert yesterday for a schollarship...
There were six of the best instumentalists (it's a word in Sweden!) and singers at about my age from all around...
Two violas, one trombone one clarinett (me) and a singer.
After the concert the jurry had a little pallaver and there was another concert...
Then the jurry returned... and...
This girl... Åsa... won 15 000 SEK ($2092.05 / 1113.59 pound)!
She really was great, and deserved every öre (sort of like penny, but worth 13.47 times less...)!

Have a nice day.

Oh yeah!
I forgot to mention... there were two winners this year... because it was so hard to decide... who got equal ammount of money...
The other one was me.

Maple Story
posted on: Saturday, March, 19th, 2005 at 12:41:07 am at Gaming
Hey, maybe you never read the topic in the gaming forum, maybe you meant to but never got around to it. That's alright, I'm going to tell you all about it right here, and right now.

Maple Story is a MMORPG. It's free and always intends to stay free. This game is different from most. It's a sidescroller. Now it might seem really weird to have a sidescrolling MMORPG, but they get it done, and the get it done right.

Anyway, the game's been around for quite a while. A while back they decided to close the beta, and no more new users were permitted to get accounts. That has ended (temporarily of course). Probably due to the lack of current users, they have reopened registration to the game. From friday (today) until Tuesday (the 22nd of March) users will be able to get accounts again. This is a great game, and I highly reccommend it. If you think you may be interested in it, don't hesitate to get your account now, because there may not be a next time to do so until the game's commercial release.

Go to the Maple Story Website for more details and downloads. Hurry now... If you wait too long it may be too late :)

xJinxxUzukix <--- lvl 40 Fire Wizard
Rammo <--- lvl 30 Fighter (two handed axes)
LordRengar <--- lvl 31 Bandit (daggers)
ColonelRad <--- lvl 20 Archer (using crossbows, gonna be a crossbowman)
Anyway, that's all from me. See you later.

Looks cool...

they ask for wayyyy too much personal info for my liking ><

the sacrifices I must make... (referring to privacy) XD.

Why not get some usernames passed around in the topic? See if we can get people to link up online.

LordRengar <--- My Bandit lvl 31
ColonelRad <--- My Archer lvl 15 (new account)

comment by Ramza on Saturday, March, 19th, 2005 at 02:34:06 pm

Oh, and they ask for that much personal info because this is a "beta test" and they need info on their beta testers. You know, incase they want to send us free stuff for beta testing or something.

When you select country the page is reloaded to change some stuff, like letting you select a state if you live is USA or something.
Just let it load and it should work.

comment by HeavyBlade on Tuesday, March, 22nd, 2005 at 10:57:48 pm

Tried setup and everything - all it did was adjust the freaking game display so that it actually fit onto the screen :/ I think I need to teach these people how you make a game display.... XD

Still crashes at the same spot - and according to SB there are "no new updates for your sound card" (which Ramza thought might be the problem). This is getting annoying.... >:/

I downloaded it,
And didn't make it this SUCKS!!!
When will they open it again???

comment by Ramza on Friday, March, 25th, 2005 at 02:04:59 am

You should have registered before downloading it silly =p

They say they won't open the registration again until the commercial release. But they were saying that prior to this set of registrations... so you never know.
