Today is the USA Presidential Election. More on that later. More importantly, Intel latest and greatest Core i7 Processors are out for buying and pwning. Wondering how it works? Short answer, think revamped Core 2 Quads with Hyper threading, giving the appearance (and power?) of 8 cores on a single chip. Also, the memory has been moved to the actual core if i recall correctly, and RAM is grouped in threes, not twos. Needless to say, it is a new architecture for Intel, one that more then likely requires a new motherboard. Just know that its faster, ok? And as I don't make nearly enough to replace the processor and motherboard on the computer i just built (See the thread in computer) original blade2k reviews might be late in coming, unless someone has pockets deeper then I?

Later
Obama won.

Actually, the Core i7 processors are officially available the 17th of November.

Google Chrome Beta
posted on: Wednesday, September, 03rd, 2008 at 08:41:02 pm at Tech
Google released today for public beta testing their own flavor of browser, Google Chrome. As blade2k's fancy tech guru person, I'll be using Chrome for a few days and let you know how it stacks up. You can download it from the Google homepage.

Also... Less importantly (in my view) Internet Explorer has hit it's second phase of beta not too long ago... Yeah...

Review soon, I take my advancement exam tomorrow, so wish me luck.

Firefox 3 has entered the Release Canadate stage, meaning that it is (very) close to being compleated. You can pick it up here.

Also, the Thunderbird 3 alpha 1 is out as well. You can get that here.

As these products are not finished products, you should be careful with their usage.

Cool news post.

This is not a news post about anything in particular. Well actually it's about two really cool things.

First really cool thing is OSx86 or hackintosh. Some of you may know about this, I'm sure most of you don't. It's an hacked implementation of Mac OS X for computers with x86 architecture processors. That means your standard windows computer in most cases. I've tried it for a while, unfortunately I had driver problems which lead to me going back to Windows XP.

Second really cool thing is Tiny Vista I'll copy the NFO file so you see what I mean exactly:

"Thank you for trying this special eXPerience edition of Windows Vista
Ultimate.

No product key is needed. Windows Vista is activated upon installation. Windows
is fully patched with all "important" Windows Updates to 8th may 2007.

The 512Mb RAM memory requirement is reduced to just 256Mb.

The requirement of almost 8Gb of disk space is reduced to less than 3Gb.

This installation only takes up about 35% of the size of a normal installation
of Windows Vista. Many components have been removed from this edition of Windows,
but you still have Microsoft's three main programs:

Internet Explorer 7
Windows Mail (Formerly "Outlook Express")
Windows Media Player 11

You also have the new Aero theme in this edition
of Windows and the ability to use Windows Update.

There are no services taken out of this special edition of Windows.
Only three services have been disabled: Remote Registry, Windows Error
Reporting Service, Windows Search.

You cannot do an upgrade installation from this CD, because the upgrade files
have been removed. You can only install Windows by booting from the CD and
formatting your partition or hard drive.

There are concerns about finding a good firewall and antivirus for Windows Vista.
If you want to use a good antivirus, get hold of NOD32 v2.70.31 (or later) and use
the NSANE fix. For a firewall, you're stuck with the built in firewall it seems, at
least until software vendors start to make Vista compatible firewalls. On June 7th
2007, Comodo Firewall version 3 is due for release - this will have Vista
support."

Basically it's Windows Vista for crappy computers. I've not tried it yet, I'll get back to you once I have!
