posted on: Monday, January, 21st, 2008 at 07:32:37 pm at Tech This is not a news post about anything in particular. Well actually it's about two really cool things. First really cool thing is OSx86 or hackintosh. Some of you may know about this, I'm sure most of you don't. It's an hacked implementation of Mac OS X for computers with x86 architecture processors. That means your standard windows computer in most cases. I've tried it for a while, unfortunately I had driver problems which lead to me going back to Windows XP. Second really cool thing is Tiny Vista I'll copy the NFO file so you see what I mean exactly: "Thank you for trying this special eXPerience edition of Windows Vista Ultimate. No product key is needed. Windows Vista is activated upon installation. Windows is fully patched with all "important" Windows Updates to 8th may 2007. The 512Mb RAM memory requirement is reduced to just 256Mb. The requirement of almost 8Gb of disk space is reduced to less than 3Gb. This installation only takes up about 35% of the size of a normal installation of Windows Vista. Many components have been removed from this edition of Windows, but you still have Microsoft's three main programs: Internet Explorer 7 Windows Mail (Formerly "Outlook Express") Windows Media Player 11 You also have the new Aero theme in this edition of Windows and the ability to use Windows Update. There are no services taken out of this special edition of Windows. Only three services have been disabled: Remote Registry, Windows Error Reporting Service, Windows Search. You cannot do an upgrade installation from this CD, because the upgrade files have been removed. You can only install Windows by booting from the CD and formatting your partition or hard drive. There are concerns about finding a good firewall and antivirus for Windows Vista. If you want to use a good antivirus, get hold of NOD32 v2.70.31 (or later) and use the NSANE fix. For a firewall, you're stuck with the built in firewall it seems, at least until software vendors start to make Vista compatible firewalls. On June 7th 2007, Comodo Firewall version 3 is due for release - this will have Vista support." Basically it's Windows Vista for crappy computers. I've not tried it yet, I'll get back to you once I have! edited by seph I just got my MacBook, so, yeah. comments[4]
posted on: Tuesday, December, 11th, 2007 at 06:18:54 am at Tech This is more tech orientated, but meh, news is news. Toshiba just announced that their SSD (or Solid State Drive (or Disk) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid_state_disk) at sizes of 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB. As the curve of technology keeps going forward, we'll eventually see 256GB and 512GB SSD. These SSD can be used in plases where normal SATA HHD are normally used (i.e, Computers, DAPs) and personally, I cant wait to pick one up. comments[3]

posted on: Sunday, June, 04th, 2006 at 06:32:26 pm at Tech as many or you may know, the servers for 'The Pirate Bay' were seized by the Swedish Police eariler this week, which caused it to shut down. but for now, 'The Pirate Bay' is back and is now being hosted at several different countries. only one can wonder how long this version lasts (untill the US government gets involved again). edited by blue also for thoes who didnt know, 'The Pirate Bay' is a popular torrent site sephxored Some people have gotten a pop-up with the text "SQL Injection" while browsing the site. This is a problem that would take several hours to fix, and it doesn't realy do anything so I'll leave it be. Hopefully it'll go away. comments[7]
posted on: Saturday, February, 25th, 2006 at 04:01:58 am at Tech For thoes who dont know me, i am blue. And for thoes who dont know yet, i am now staff. (amazing, isnt it). I set out today to revitaliza the almost dead tech section with some reviews, tutorials, and other stuff of sweetness. About that, there is a new review over the iPod 5g. So read, enjoy, post, and actually USE the pastebin (JoD). edited by Devinfire Yeah...I've added some new files... And version 5 may be out by july... edited by Devinfire MORE EDITING(LITERALLY) Seriously. If you see something wrong with the site, ANYTHING AT ALL, post it in the site questions forum. It's kinda akward when you have typos nobody tells anybody about for two years. comments[20] |
