Vengeance Demo Released! at 17:05 GMT by Ramza
Well, after 2 years of being a lazy bastard the first demo of Vengeance is now available. The features list is as follows:

-2 hours or so of gameplay
-3 playable characters
-caterpillar system enabled
-banters enabled
-enhancements to the monster encounter system
-skill learning enabled

Some things it doesn't have, that the full version will:

-World map minimap
-Voice acting (japanese stand in voices used instead)
-Custom menu shell with change party command.

Anyways, the demo is up right now in the downloads section, so go give it a whirl and tell me what you think. I also uploaded a new screenshot, of Ruiga in it's new incarnation. Have fun playing, and expect an update in a few days when I get bombarded by bug reports ;)

Edit: Patch v1.1 is already up in a record 12 hours. Most of the bug fixes include minor AI tweaks to some monsters, and slight animation fixes during some cutscenes. Keep the bug reports coming folks. The patch can be found on the download page. The archive file download has also been updated to version 1.1. So unless you downloaded the demo before reading this, you don't need the patch.
Patching instructions:
Download the patchv1.1 archive. extract the contents (map files and database files) into the main MC directory. It will prompt you to overwrite the files. click yes to all. you saves made before the patch was applied will also be patched. They will continue to work. Make sure not to patch it while the game is open. And like I said above, if you're just downloading the game now (at some point after this is posted) you won't need the patch, as it has already been applied to the archive. That's all for now folks.

Minor Updates at 03:01 GMT by Ramza
Just a few minor updates concerning Mana Conquest: Vengeance.

-Uploaded 9 brand new screenshots! A couple of them are just mock ups to show off the caterpillar system.
-Created a caterpillar system to go along with the 'Banter' system I made. I figured it looks better if the characters who are saying their dialogue could be seen on screen, but since the dialogue occurs at indefinate times, the only answer was to make the caterpillar effect =)
-Skill levelling is done for Eidan, and Hanna. This means in the demo if you play like a maniac you can actually get them to have their best moves.
-Still looking for able voice actors. Especially need a female one ASAP. If I don't have a voice for Hanna by the time I release the demo, everyone in the game will have to be silent. And we don't want that.
-Decided that the in battle character switch would make the game far too easy. It could also make it far too hard if you don't use it... So I decided not to use it.
-Improved upon the monster encounter system present in the first MC. Monster now respawn after a set amount of time, and will only come after you if you are within a certain distance of them (this distance changes depending on what kind of monster it is)

Enjoy all the neat info. See you guys at my next update. (God only knows when that will be XD)

Vengeance Update at 17:05 GMT by Ramza
Progress on MC vengeance is going quite nicely, I should have a playable demo out real soon. Just because I know you all can't wait for it ;)

Someone informed me that the MCSetup.exe file in the downloads section wasn't working properly, so I removed it and replaced it with a zip. The downside to this is that the rm2k font won't be automatically installed into your windows directory, so the game's font may be a little messed up. If you should happen to have a real problem with this, feel free to send me an email, and I will send you a tool to fix it.

I added MC: Eons in the info section, so you can all check it out and drool over the tiny bit of information I released on it's storyline (don't wanna ruin it for you afterall :P)

I also added 4 screenshots of MC: Vengeance to the screenshots section. The title screen and three random dialogues from the intro, nothing too fancy, since I don't have the battle layout 100% complete, or the menu, or the change party, so I can't show you screens of those. The 4 I uploaded will have to suffice for now I'm afraid.
That's all for this update, catch ya next time!

Misao Awards at 19:15 GMT by Ramza
It is my pleasure to tell you all that Mana Conquest is the winner of 3 of the 2006 Misao Awards. These awards are:
Best game without CBS or CMS
Best Easter Egg
Best Replayability
You can check out the rest of the winners here
Probably didn't even get nominated for best music.... but whatever, I'll take what I can get. Also the downloads section now has an updated version of Mana Conquest. All the missing files problems have been corrected, as well as the bugs in the minigames. If you encountered any of these bugs in the game, simply download the game installer again, and reinstall it (and shame on you for not telling me sooner). Most of the bugs and missing files were found by Gamemaster, so kudos to him.

The second part in the series is going to be made with rm2k3, and may contain some of the following new features:
-Random dialogues between characters in your party. (ei: Hanna may strike up a conversation with Vance about Damsil or something)
-Skills level up system. Using a character during battles makes his skill with his weapon increase, and allows his skills to evolve.
-In battle character switch.

As was the case with the full version of MC, I'll try to make sure that the demo of MC:V is playable on any computer, regardless of whether you have rm2k3 installed or not.
That's all for today.

Holy Crap at 17:24 GMT by Ramza
Guess it's been a long time since I updated eh? Well sorry to say that there isn't really much to update on. Mana Conquest is about 95% done, and if I actually decide to work on it anytime soon, it could be finished as early as a week from now. But that probably won't happen. Even though my interest in it has slowly declined over the years, rest assured that it will be finished. To prove I'm serious about this, I'll give a list of what else needs to be done on it:

-The dashing minigame needs to be fixed
-The early maps need to be made less square looking
-A lot of the early dialogue needs to be changed to make it less "corny"
-The Morax Cavern, the final dungeon needs to be finished
-Several important cutscenes need to be made
-The final battles(!) need to be made and balanced properly
-Other somewhat random events need to be made

So, as you can see from that, I really don't have a lot of work to do on it, most of it is just some simple event commands or other things like that. After that's finished, I just need to have it beta tested, then it will be released for public download here. I'm not giving a definate date yet, but it could be real soon... so keep your eye out for it.

A large change at 13:06 GMT by Ramza
As I posted in the previous news post, I decided to get a new layout. As you are no doubt seeing now, That layout is complete. Nifty eh?
Well anyway, have a new look around, there's a bit of updated info now... The whole site looks better than before if I don't say so myself, but it's still got a long ways to go before it gets that professional feeling.
Enjoy guys, and don't forget to keep your eyes peeled for the full version release of Mana Conquest, coming soon :)

Some slight Changes at 18:14 GMT by Ramza
I've decided I'm going to create a new layout for this site, so expect a few changes around here. Also, Mana Conquest's full version is going to be released within a couple months. Again, I may not meet this deadline, but I'd rather give you guys a rough estimate, then leave you all in the dark. Thank you for your unlimited support. Speaking of that, you'll notice a paypal button on the left side now... Feel free to donate some money to me :)

A bit of an update at 21:10 GMT by Ramza
I finally figured out what was causing the mp3 music in the monastery to not work correctly. With the problem now resolved, I have uploaded the last version of Mana Conquest Demo 2, which is (or should be) completely bug free... even if there is a bug found, in it, I will not eb fixing the bug for the demo... it's a bit of a waste of my time to be fixing demos when the full version is on the way...

Anyway, the full version is coming along quite nicely, I don't have any new screenshots for you yet, but they'll arrive soon enough. I can't set a definate release date, because of school and stuff... Plus the last time I set a date, I failed to meet it and ended up with some angry emails on my hands...

Anyone who is interested in applying to be a voice actor for Mana Conquest: Vengeance should check out This link and apply for a voice acting position there... (make sure you're registered) I don't have the actual voices set yet, I was gonna wait and do that once I finish Mana Conquest.

That's all for now kiddies,

~Ramza

Mana Conquest release date pushed back! at 20:04 GMT by Ramza
Okay, I ran into a bit of a rough spot making the game, so Mana Conquest will unfortunately have to have it's release date pushed back again. It's indefinate when it'll be done, but rest assured that I am doing everything in my power to finish the game. Also, a while back [blade2k] got itself a new layout. Go check it out, and have a look at the projects section for some info and a choice to sign up as a voice actor for MC: Vengeance.
That's all from me, later all
