The blade2k story
Well, I can't tell you the whole history because I wasn't around when this place first got started and nobody really remembers any way. My best guess is that blade2k takes its name from Blade Productions, which was small community run by Cyril5412000. I, losl, was just fledgling member at Gaming Ground Zero under the alias The Evil Cheese Cake Ninja, which I had taken with me from rpg2knet. Keep in mind this was back when GGZ wasn't so uptight about stuff. Anyway, Cyril advertised looking for writers and I took the job.

Blade2k started with a site for a game called X-Machina where Lyndon was a composer. Lyndon put down the money for a host and domain and blade2k started. I came along when I AIM'ed Cyril asked what he was up to. He showed me a site called blade2k (then at blade2k.com), which was pretty swank to me back then. I immediately joined the forums with large dreams of becoming staff. I quickly became known as the Lord of Spam Zero (which was my alias back then) and Ramza told me I would never become staff, so I did. Before him. Man was he pissed >:]. Anyway, everything went okay for about 3 months maybe (I have no clue) until Cyril started to change. Suddenly he left the staff and started going under the alias Kurt, and gave us 30 days to change the layout, which we didn't, and Lyndon took over as web-master. Kurt got in a car wreck, as told to us by his sister "Vicky," who later was proven lying when we found out Kurt was still alive and well. Long story short, Kurt harassed us for a while before having yet another change of adittude, at which point he started hanging out with VantageX4 (Co-Webmaster up through v2). Kurt programmed sites for VantageX4, which was a new skill he had picked up, (Seph has been the programmer since v1, allthough he was seph2 back then). Eventually one of Vantage's friends hooked us up with a layout for version 2, and Seph coded the site.

This part is where it gets a little hairy, and it might offend somepeople (probably people from rpg2knet), but about this time I started real news which was renamed to exodus. Anyway, being the cocky 14 year old I was, when we were still on rpg2knet's IRC server (then happyapathy), I made some pretty snotty remarks in #rpg2knet and got myself pwned ("hacked"). A long and drawn out war ensued, I think we can skip most of the details, both of us were pissed at eachother we flamed them they flamed us etc. That is until Stick was hired and brought us a sort of makeshift peace. By now tension among the staff had reached a boiling point. VantageX4 was fired, and shortly there after Morpheus left staff (he was a file uploader), and I and Kai, then Yamato Kai had a disagreement and Kai left staff.

By the time Kai left staff, blade2k version 3 was already underdevelopment by yours truly, which is Why it carried the Kai sprite above the right menu. By now, Gaming World had started its own IRC server, which we moved to after a short stint on the RGG server, and all was seemingly well. The site was gaining popularity for the first time since its inception and Tumble_Weed, Gary, and Zack joined the staff. Stick to began to produce a weekly comic. However all was not well in paradise. Our Host from version 1 to version 3, Daro Host, formerly Lane-P had suddenly become a hell hole of bad reliabily and weak stanards (before we finally moved we were down to cpanel 3, the current version is 10). Stick came forward to pay for a new server, and we moved to Hostonic, (now closed). However Steve, the Daro Host refused to change the blade2k.com domain to our new servers and I bought blade2k.net. Long time staffer Celadrien, was fired after a long period on in-activity following the blade2k3 launch. After a failed collobartion with Stick, Roleplay, tensions rose quickly between us. Stick, left staff and we took over payments on the server.

From there, things got hairy again. Zack as a joke sent Lyndon a link to the rpg2knet admin panel, and things almost got hot again. However, Iscabraid, the rpg2knet co-webmaster stepped in and crisis was diverted. By now, the first of what would be 2 blade2k4 designs was underway. However, due to a freak recycling bin accident, that version no longer exists, and I began to design a new better layout thay went through many, many, many changes before becoming what you see here. Finally after nearly 6 months of development, blade2k4 was realeased on July 28th 2004.

--The End?--

Thanks to all the staff from version 1 to 4 for helping make this site possible: Lyndon, Seph (aka Seph2), losl (aka Zero), Gary, Ramza, Tumble_Weed, Zack, Morpheus, HeavyBlade, Zell, Stick, Celadrien, Kai (aka Yamato Kai), Kurt (aka Cyril), and anyone else I forgot!

And now it is time for a second chapter in the history of blade2k...

The above stuff was all written by losl, the previous webmaster. From here on, it is written by the current webmaster, Ramza.
Only a few months after the release of version 4 the site began to lose it's member base, and although the number of members registering per day was always on the rise, it became really apparent that they were only coming for our massive resource database. After a few failed attempts to bring back some of our older members, losl lost interest in the site. He eventually began to not even bother maintaining it. losl wasn't the only staffer that gave up hope, even I stopped caring about my job (:o heaven forbid). In fact, most of the older staff members had stopped coming here completely. And one day, not long ago, losl announced that blade2k was closing. This set everyone ablaze. And through this, I became the webmaster. Of course, simply becoming the webmaster wouldn't bring the members back. Somehow under my reign everyone was more productive and willing to work. I got rid of some of the inactive staff members, and hired a fresh new batch of people willing to roll up their sleeves and get to work. At present not much has really changed since then, but a lot more changes are scheduled before the release of version 5. You can count on that.
